Leave The Lights On

Meiko

Label: Fantasy Records/Concord Music

Tags: downtempo, dubstep, folktronica, pop, progressive, synth

Our first introduction to Meiko was her self titled LP that cropped up alongside Immogene Heap, Sara Bareilles and Rachel Yamagata in a wave of brilliant folksy indie-pop singer/songwriters.  Her sophomore release The Bright Side is out on May 15th with the brooding beats and guitars “Leave The Lights On” leading the way.  Meiko’s pairing with Morgan Page could not be more perfect as he treats Meiko’s intimate vocals with just the right amount of big room, progressive club grit.  Crystal Method’s robotic bop has ripping new wave synths, Future Funk rewind some crushing dubstep, Am Pacific floats on an hallucinogenic dub and WRKWRD’s downtempo is warm and acoustic. Belgian producer Styrofoam who produced the single does a neat little radio mix.
